design work

Thurston Wants You

Lately I have been doing some design work for our favorite brewery, New Helvetia Brewing Co. This is a graphic I designed to use for posters, t-shirts, social media… basically any marketing needs necessary to further the brand. I am pretty happy with how Thurston Buffalo turned out. Drawn in Adobe Illustrator.

Crystals by Larissa | Logo

This logo was design for my good friend and extremely talented wire wrapping jewelry designer Larissa. She needed something that not only represented her personality and unique style, but her business and brand as well. I created three different options for her to use on different fronts, including social media, stickers, t-shirts, and other print materials she may decide to produce in the future.

Capital Dance Project | Event Poster 2017

This poster was for a ballet company I helped found in 2015 called Capital Dance Project. Each summer, we produce a show at the Crest Theatre, where the dancers do every job required. As well as a dancer and choreographer, I take on the job as graphic designer, and created this poster, a program cover, and small flyer to hand out to local businesses. This year I decided to include all the names of all the artists involved, since we have a huge emphasis on local collaborations and bringing the community together.

Picky Stitches | Logo

I created this logo for a fellow dancer friend who is also starting her own business. Ava creates fun and colorful embroidery and will be starting her own Etsy shop soon under the name Picky Stitches. It was super fun working with her to come up with this idea of a cactus with sewing needle thorns, keeping it cute and fresh, while appealing to the right target audience. Good luck Ava with your new artsy endeavors!

Art is Here | A Typographic Journal

This piece was created for my Typography class final project. It is a handmade book detailing much of the art scene that Sacramento has to offer. From murals, to food, to different art organizations in town, this book was crafted with love and passion for the creativity that many have yet to discover here in this flourishing town.

Sacramento Zoo Logo | Redesign Project

For my Adobe Illustrator class we were instructed to study the Sacramento Zoo and its current branding, and redesign it. This logo, with the three animal faces, stemmed from my love of geometric shapes and creating natural forms from those shapes. The typography was originally Century Gothic, which I edited by hand to create the ultimate look I had envisioned.

Capital Dance Project | Event Poster 2016

Another Capital Dance Project poster, program, and flyer from the previous year. I kept this design as simple as possible since there was a lot of information that needed to be displayed and easily read. Logo design was by Raphael Delgado.

New Helvetia Brewing Co. | Website Redesign

One of my most recent projects was for my Web Design class, where we had to pick an existing website that needed help and redesign it. I created a process book to go along with my redesign, which included the Creative Brief, User Personas, Style Tile, Site Map, Wireframes, as well as pieces not pictured here such as sketches, brainstorming, role models and competitors, and all prototypes for both desktop and mobile. Below, you will see samples of some of the pages I redesigned.

The Modern Knot | Magazine Cover Design

This was a project for a Photoshop class where we had free range to imagine our own magazine and create it’s cover. I focused on a wedding themed magazine, with this edition emphasizing the trend toward Fall weddings. The color pallette, titles of articles, and typography chosen all lend themselves toward a modern, clean, yet rustic vibe that many brides are falling for these days.

Sac Art in the Park | Event Poster

This poster was a project for my Typography class where we were required to create an event, and all of the advertising and collateral pieces to go along with it. The event I created was titled Sac Art in the Park, and consisted of a live art performance in McKinley Park. I designed the logo, event poster, street banners, billboards, flyers, and website homepage. My goal was to keep the design fresh, clean, and modern, that appealed to both young adults and families.

Jane Johnson Art | Business Card

My soon to be Mother-in-law is a professional artist and specializes in abstract acrylic paintings. She was in need of a new business card design to hand out at the many art shows she attends around the country, and came to me for help. The painting used on the back of the card is her best selling painting for her 2016 year.
